Holidays in Spanish beaches 2009
One more year the European Foundation for Environmental Education has awarded Spain with 571 distinctive blue flags, 44 more than last year. This is an important detail to keep in mind since the Blue flag award is the most recognized programme rating beaches and marinas throughout the world.Â
The Blue Flag Programme is owned and run by the independent non-profit organization Foundation for Environmental Education and deals with water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, and safety among other services. The fact that Spain is awarded with 571 blue flags this year represents a very important sign of quality for tourists who wish to spend beach holidays in Spain. Families usually choose beach apartments because it is the perfect location to avoid long distances to the beach and be close to the sea, where small kids love swimming and playing in the sand.
Andalucia has gained this year 24 more and the Canary Islands 8 more.
Galicia is the community with more flags (124), followed by Catalunya (108) and Valencia (101).
At this time of the year, good beaches are one of the main references for travelers with over 4,000 Kms of coastline packed with gorgeous Spanish beaches to choose from. That makes Spain as one of the most visited and desired countries to go on a holiday among Europeans. With a wide selection of beach apartments in Spain and holiday resorts at the beach, Spain is right now the perfect location during your holiday.
