Camping tips: Where to set up camp
You want to start off by finding level ground. No one wants to sleep on an uneven surface! It"s always a good idea to find this flat spot relatively high up and not too close to trees. The tree roots would not be a good place to lie on. Make sure there are no large stones either. It"s a good idea to make sure the area you pick does not show signs of any water erosion. The last thing you want is to have a flash flood during a large rainstorm come rushing through your tent at night.Â
One of the most important things to do when picking out a camping site is to look up above you and make sure you see a lot of blue sky! The last thing you want is to wake up in the middle of the night with a downed tree or even large tree limbs crashing through your tent. Believe me I know! The first time I went camping with my family we set up camp underneath a tree and during the night there was a bit of a wind storm which knocked down some branches. Thank goodness the branches were not huge. This could have been a real problem.Â
So please follow all of these steps and ensure yourself a great time in the outdoors!
